Sierra
02/11/05
I can't believe in June it will be two years since I picked Sierra up in Maple Valley. She is such a joy in my life, and I just adore her.
She is doing great, and I thought I would just send some updated photos to WAMAL to let you folks know that she's doing very well. The two emails I'm sending are a little outdated in text, but the pictures of Sierra (or "boo-boo" when she's being extra cute) are great. The one attached to this email I find particularly funny. The picture was taken at her doggy daycare for the fourth of July, and the photographer laughingly said that Sierra loved the camera, and having all eyes on her. She really hammed it up!
The other email I'll send has pictures of me, my boyfriend, Erik, and his Siberian named Kobi. It took some adjustment (Kobi is 8, and has been an only dog all his life), but things are fine with both of them. At home, they just act like the other isn't there, but at the dog park they seem to "rediscover" one another, and have a wonderful time playing tag together.
I think WAMAL is a great organization, and it inspires me to someday want to have more resources so that I can adopt another mal., or even foster.

SugarNSpice, now known as Bella, is settling right into her new family. Our first day home was interesting, as she ran around at a hundred miles an hour, checking out everything in sight. She and Kuma, our 5 month-old Mal pup, are doing great together. Bella is also doing really well with our cats. She wants to check them out, but doesn't show any intention to hurt or harm them. They avoid her, simply because she moves so fast. She has found that being inside the house is pretty neat! I found her curled up in my recliner this morning. I also had to go let the two clowns out of the kennel at 4 this morning....it was snowing and they were like 2 kids in a candy store. They couldn't wait to be turned loose in the yard! We frequently catch Bella standing in the middle of the patio table....for what reason, we have no clue.
Bella loves to go for rides, as Vicki said! She's enjoyed going to the office with me when I have to work. If someone listened to her when she is playing, and didn't watch her body language, you would think she is the meanest dog in the world! She has a vicious sounding growl but her lips aren't curled, her tail is wagging, and her ears are up. Is this just an way of playing? Is it a sign of under-socialization? Her body language says play, but that growl sounds like it should come out of a dog 3 times her size. If any of you have experiences with that, I'd love to hear them.
So far it looks like everything is working out just fine. Bella is such a truly sweet dog, and she is a having a lot of fun with Kuma.
Siska

I just wanted to thank you for encouraging us to adopt Nanuk and Siska. We both feel it was meant to be and now that we have had them for over 24 hours - we are sure. They are both wonderful, well mannered, sweet dogs. If you ever have contact with their former owner, please tell them how much we love the dogs and that they have a new and loving home.

Well, Siska and Nanuk are waking up at their new home today! Cindy and Jon fell in love with them yesterday. They took them for a walk, and the fuzzies schmoozed them and got a bunch of pets and snuggles. Cindy has pledged to take them for walks every day, but Siska let her preference for running with Jon known. So hopefully both will get lots of exercise and slim down and stay healthy for a good long life.
Here's hoping everything works out really well for them all!
