Koko

06/09/20
The pair are rapidly becoming accustomed to the house, learning boundaries, and generally fitting in nicely. Turns out that Koko is a bit of a howler (not a problem, but unexpected as none of the reports mentioned that), while Neeko just can't seem get enough cuddles and spends most of the day going from one human to the next demanding attention. Great additions to our family!
Sadly, our beloved Raven -- passed away quietly on the Thursday after we brought the pair home with us. We are, of course, grieving for her, but to be honest if one had to script the perfect end for a perfect dog, she had it -- a day of happy play with her new friends, lots of pats and cuddles with her family, treats and favorite food for supper... and then she just passed away quietly in her sleep, no pain or discomfort.
Neeko & Koko have been a delight and seem to have already settled in with an implicit understanding that this will be their new forever home. We're so happy to have them in our family now, and their presence has helped ease our pain from losing Raven as well.

Kanoosh

06/07/20
Hi my name is Bobby and I wanted to share a story with WAMAL.  This big boy is Kanoosh.  He was left tied to a trailhead in Snohomish County and he made his way to WAMAL.  My Dad and I adopted this 18-month-old crazy dog in 2013.  He was so awesome!  He howled all the time…..he is a talker. My Dad and him were inseparable.  They were best of friends living in Ocean Shores, WA.  My Dad passed away in 2016 and my wife actually saw tears in Noosh’s eyes.  We were at a loss because Noosh was staying in this family no matter what, but our snag was that I had a male Malamute named Dakota as well and we all knew that was going to be a problem. My Mom said she would take Noosh. We ended up having to fly him to Indiana where he is now getting the love.  My oldest brother has been Noosh’s best friend—they go everywhere together. He takes almost better care of him than my Dad if that were even possible!
I just wanted to share an amazing story how 1 dog has changed so many lives.  He is very much still alive and he is living the most unbelievable life ever.  Thank you for the awesome work WAMAL does…Mals are amazing!!

Kayak

Hi. I just wanted to send a note to thank you for allowing me to adopt Kayak. He is fitting in perfectly. He is such a happy boy, he practically bounces off the walls. He's fast getting used to being part of our pack and eats with everyone and sits together with my dogs at night for his bedtime cookie. He ignored my goats and bunnies at first, but now that he is more comfortable he is doing a little chasing.. but it's clearly play not prey so I'm confident I can teach him not to. My cats actually love him.
He has taken his first ride in the convertible. He hugged the floorboards for the first 10 minutes but eventually came up on the seat and looked around. He had a cough/sneeze when  I picked him up and my vet says his lungs are kinda raspy so he is on antibiotics and seems to be getting better. After not eating for the first couple of days, he is now eating like a big dog. He is an absolute joy.
I have named him OhBoy, inspired by the Buddy Holly song of the same name, which he loves to dance to:

All of my love
All of my kissin'
You don't know what you've been a-missin'
Oh boy, when you're with me
Oh boy, the world can see
That you, were meant, for me

Also.. Sandy was sooo nice and helpful. I really appreciate all the time and effort she gave me and the good care she gave OhBoy.

We wanted to update you on our girl Khira. She has settled into her new home amazingly fast! She is all diva here in her new home. She has a new purple set of leashes and harnesses, her microchip has been registered to us, she has her own crate to sleep in (not crazy about that but for a treat...) she is on a little diet and some regular exercise which she needed badly. Khira is very loving to the our girls and wants to be pet all the time. Our first mal Rocky is adjusting to having a sister/friend that does not go home. He has been very protective of his mooching spot in the kitchen, of his kids that pet him, of his daddy that always takes him on a walk, of his mommy that gives him belly rubs...you get the drift. However he is doing very well. I would say that we are her forever home for sure!!!!
We have been so inspired by this organization that we want to volunteer, so we are getting our applications to you all. Who knows, we may want another malpal in the future!
We love our mals just like our kids!

Kodiak is doing great, and has finally settled into things completely. I didn't realize he hadn't until he did, if that makes sense. He finally has stopped finding easy places to sneak out and socialize with all the neighborhood dogs (who he gets along with, each one!) after only about a dozen or so separate fence repairs on my part! Life is pretty good and fun with the dogs, hope you are well too and have a good Thanksgiving!
