Learn more about the Alaskan Malamute.
Talla and her brother Motsey were an owner surrender due to an unfortunate change in the owners residence. Talla was very nervous in the shelter and would grumble at the staff. She walked around with her head down and tail tucked for a while but was never aggressive to anyone. After a malamute volunteer went to see her she warmed up and showed just how brave she was. She allowed the staff to take her for walks and give her treats and she started to come out of her shell. Of the two dogs Talla seems to be the brave one and she is a very happy girl! She is much more relaxed now when we take her for walks and will run and play. She takes treats gently and walks well on leash with not much pulling. Talla is very bonded to her big brother and likes to be by his side. Talla does get a little car sick and she will sometimes drool excessively so she usually likes to lay down. She is very affectionate and she insists on being loved. Talla is energetic and loves to play and run and meet new animals. She knows basic commands like sit stay come and lay. She would do well with in an active home. She is the more stubborn of the two and would instigate escaping the yard so she might need a home with a little more patience. She is said to get along with other dogs and children and she is house-trained. Talla needs to stay with her brother Motsey as they are strongly bonded pair.
