Motsey and his sister Talla were an owner surrender due to an unfortunate change in the owners residence. When Motsey first came into the shelter he was scared and confused; new surroundings and new people scared him so that he would growl. He was scheduled to be euthanized but a malamute volunteer went to see Motsey and recognized his growls as fear and not aggression. Motsey was visited often by the same person and within a few days warmed up to them well. Motsey is unsure of new things and will tuck his tail and becomes watchful. After arriving in WA it only took 2 visits by the volunteer and Motsey is a happy boy! He is wary of strangers but if you approach slowly and talk softly he comes right around! Motsey and Talla are deeply bonded and he does better when she is around. Motsey is a big boy and walks good on leash with little pulling. He is said to get along with other dogs and has showed no signs of dog aggression. Motsey is big as well as startles easily so a home with bigger kids is advised. He takes treats gently and prefers his to be put on the ground. He rides well in a car and should be tethered down as he likes to help you drive! He takes commands readily is obedient and house-trained. He is a snuggler which is funny because he is so big but that is his way of letting you know he wants something. Motsey needs to stay with his sister Talla as they are strongly bonded pair.
