Learn more about the Alaskan Malamute.
Prince Grizzly is more of a teddy bear than a grizzly. He is very unsure of what has happening to him - lost his sister/canine companion and was then dropped off at a shelter because he howled out of loneliness and his owners were not able to get him another companion - came to his new foster, got a bath (yuck), met several other dogs - it's been a tough week. Griz is not quite sure what is expected from him except when it is time to go for a walk...then he is ready to go. Prince Griz appears to be a malamute in his prime, although he may be older. He is canny and smart, watches to see how he should act, is reserved and tentative - and very dignified - but appreciative of attention when he is sure it is gentle and likes being brushed. He is doing quite well integrating himself cautiously into the pack at his foster home. Griz howled when a siren sounded. And he howled when he first arrived at his foster home from fear and loneliness. It is a deep, almost subvocal, mournful, haunting sound which his foster parents are not hearing much of anymore and actually miss it. Presently being fostered in Cle Elum, WA.
