Meet Peggy, she is an absolute love of a dog. Peggy has the longest eyelashes we have ever seen on a dog. If you look closely at her photos, you can see them. Peggy is good around small kids, in the house and in the car.
Peggy will crate up, but does not like it a lot yet, but were working with her on that. Peggy will follow you around everywhere and not run off. Peggy is a little iffy at times with other dogs, which is very typical for female Malamutes. Peggy just seems to like some and then others she needs to tell them who is boss. Mainly Peggy is a very nice, sweet natured dog who would be a good pet to almost anyone. Once she bats those lashes at you, you will want to take her home!
Here is note from her current foster Mom:
Peggy has settled in wonderfully here - she and Scout get along great. She has been learning some manners and obedience. Peggy does like to try to steal YOUR food if you leave it unattended. We are working with her on that. Peggy has learned a few commands already like SIT, lay DOWN, and she does walk on leash as well as any mal can. Peggy seems to really like truck rides too. Peggy is good in the house, with no accidents or issues so far, except being tag teamed by the kitties so she tries to hide! Peggy has done really well with the cats - remember though, my cats are dog savvy. She tries to chase, but when she is told NO KITTY she comes to you. She does seem to want to play with our cat Blanca who will initiate interaction with the dogs. Blanca has swatted Peggy pretty good a few times now and Peggy backs off and goes her own way. Peggy takes treats nicely and she has a gentle mouth. When we have Peggy off leash outside of the fenced yard she stays on the property and unlike most malamutes does not seem to want to wander. She will go to the end of the driveway, but when you call her she comes right back.
Peggy's foster home has rave reviews of Peggy. She went on a family reunion camping trip. Here is what they had to say:
Peggy did great for what might be her first time camping. The worst thing she did was roll in fresh moose poop - she had to have a cold bath in the creek so we could be around her :) Everyone at the family reunion LOVED her, and she was great with the kids. She enjoyed the creek behind the cabin, she liked wading in the water. Peggy still behaves well with the cats. She likes any toys, but her favorite is a squeaky ball or squeaky stuffed toy (we call them babies). I hope these new photos will help make a difference for her, she is such a sweetheart!
Peggy is currently being fostered in Kennewick, WA - near the Tri-Cities area of Eastern Washington.
