Cassie is a very sweet gentle girl. She does not need to have a raised voice or raised hand to do what you wish. A gentle touch, lots of hugs and many kisses will bring you great rewards of devotion and loyalty! Despite all that she may have been through, she will bond readily and willingly to someone who shows her respect and caring.

She has obviously come from a deprived background both from a nutritional standpoint and from an attention standpoint as well. As she comes to accept a new home as her forever home some of that neediness for attention will abate and she will become more confident and more outgoing. This dog is NOT a candidate for an outdoor kennel 12 hours a day, she wants to be with you. A companion dog would also be nice for her as well. She is NOT an ALPHA female, and should not be exposed to one as she is quite submissive and could wind up being injured by a female intent upon exerting position.

Her prey drive seems to be readily triggered by small running, furry things like CATS and Squirrels, but did not demonstrate the same behavior with small dogs, despite their jumping in her face and snapping. She may be able to be with HOUSE cats, but care still must be taken lest they run and she chases.

She LOVES to play and bats at things with her paws and uses them a great deal like a cat so be careful with children. As with all large dogs, she can hurt when she does not intend to do so.

Cassie deserves a forever home and will give back more than she gets.
