Jack N Jill are almost completely blind. They can see light and shadows - and love sunshine - but they have cataracts. We hope one of you will adopt them. We did not want them to die terrified in the shelter.

Their dispositions are amazingly good. Although they are still afraid of many things (like bath) they will put up with any kind of handling and love to ride in cars, go for a walk, or just explore the backyard. Jill is afraid of people (that does change with time) but LOVES the smells out a car window. Jack wants to play with people and likes to be brushed and handled.

Jack has bad rear knees also. But as neither of these dogs are likely to be your hiking companions, it hardly matters. In fact, they need very little to happily survive.

Jack N Jill are looking for a quiet home to live out their lives in peace.

They will probably need to be more outdoor than indoor dogs. They do love to walk and go for car rides and can be good companions for you for consistent secure activities. With their acute senses of smell and hearing, dogs can compensate very well for visual difficulties, particularly in familiar surroundings

Update from Jill's foster dad:
First let me say that both of them have come a long way toward being friendlier and much more trusting. They have adopted well to their kennel and especially to our play times everyday. They know that when I get home from work, whether it is in the morning after night shift or in the evening after day shift, the routine is that they get out of the kennel and have free time. They are very vocal now, both of them and they rush the gate on the kennel when they see me, or in Jack's case hear me, approach.

Jill is a real head turner. Everyone that has met her is very impressed with her looks, you can see from her pictures, she is gorgeous. Her personality has come out now as well. She loves attention, she listens and obeys when you call her name. She likes to explore but has also taken to playing with Duke, since Samson left. She will chase him around the house and around the barn, she does not like to get rough like Duke and Samson did but she loves the chase routine. She will come to me and snuggle right in for some attention and she even pushes Duke out of the way. She has learned that when both my wife and I are outside, she can go to the other for attention as well.

She sees very well, in reality. If you really pay attention to her, you can see that she takes a few things a little more cautiously then most dogs but if you did not know she had eye problems, it would be hard to tell. She does not like her eye drops but if I rub her belly then give them to her then rub her belly some more, then she tolerates them. She is a very sweet dog. She responds very positively to praise and gentle introductions. We have had a lot of company the last couple of weeks and she is a little hesitant at first but she does not run and hide like she was when I first got her. I think she has figured out that she can trust most humans as long as they do not approach her too aggressively. She has to sniff your hand a few times then she will come in to see if you scratch her ears then maybe a back scratch.

Jill definitely would prefer to be around people and she has been curious about the inside as well. I just started introducing her to being inside the house, she is still very tentative about being in new surroundings and does not settle in yet, we will see.

Jill is currently being fostered in Goldendale, WA.

Jill must be adopted with her companion, Jack (adopted).
