Learn more about the Alaskan Malamute.
Jack is very friendly and outgoing with people. He is young, strong and exuberantly interested in everything. He will require an owner who has experience with malamutes big dogs and who will be able to handle his further training. He knows basic commands - sit, down and will come when called. His foster parents write: We are still working on his jumping up and his pulling when on a leash which he is getting better at. Due to his size and energy, he needs to be watched with small children. Although he is good around my grandson who is 8 Months old, he would be better with older kids. Jack loves attention and follows me around the house. He is content to lie at my feet - great foot warmer. Jack appears to have the typical malamute temperament of being choosy about his doggy friends. So he would need to meet any potential friends before adoption. After introductions with my 2 dogs, female setter/spaniel - 5 years - and male Husky/Lab - 2 years. Jack has done great and they all 3 play well together. All 3 dogs eat in the kitchen and there is no aggression with whose dish is whose. I do not have any cats so I am not sure how he would react. He does sit at the window and just watch the neighbor cat. Jack is being cared for in North Seattle, WA. |
