Learn more about the Alaskan Malamute.
Shadow is housebroken and has had obedience training. He knows heel, down, sit and stay. He also knows come, but he is a Malamute so he will usually come though, unless there are any fur covered distractions. Although Shadow has lived with cats, he always wore a bell, and the cats learned to avoid the bell. He would be best in a home without cats as he definitely displays a normal Mal prey drive toward them. He is proven to be excellent around children both young and old, and used to deliver Candy Canes to the kids at the local elementary school at Christmas time. He is big at 120lbs though, and could easily knock a young child off their feet, so should not be left unattended with them. Shadow has lived with other dogs; large and small, but occasionally meets one he does not care for. He travels very well in the car, and loves to sleep in his crate at night, but wants to be part of the family and does not like being left alone in a kennel. Shadow does not challenge fences. A change in family circumstances is forcing his owner to find him a new home. Shadow is currently being fostered in Seattle, WA. |
