Learn more about the Alaskan Malamute.
Bandit is a big, gentle, mellow boy. He walks easily on leash, and would be perfectly happy with nice easy walks rather than rigorous runs or hikes. He has great manners, is quiet and does not jump up on people. Bandit does not need a huge yard to be happy, and is fine left alone outside for a time, but he definitely does not like being in a kennel. He would actually much prefer to be a house dog and a couch or bed potato. When in the house he tends to park himself as close as possible to a human. Humans are the center of Bandits life. Feeding time is quite a performance with Bandit. He sits with his whole body shaking, and his front paws drum a quick staccato on the floor. He loves his food but does not make a pest of himself by begging. He does have a wonderful howl and a unique talking voice, although it is being used very rarely. He knows basic commands like come and sit, and he is housebroken. He also does a Malamute stay, which means that sometimes he stays! Bandit loves having his beautiful medium heavy coat combed out, and he loves getting petted, but is not pushy about it. He rides very nicely and quietly in the car. Bandit sniffed two old cats rather perfunctorily at his foster home, and is totally ignoring them. However he would appear to prefer to be the only dog in his household as he can be picky about his doggy friends. He has had a wonderful meeting with an 8 year old boy who decided to wet his head, and Bandit just let it happen without any sign of protest. Is Bandit the right dog for you? He does not ask for much, and in return is ready to give his new family a lifetime of love and devotion. Bandit is being cared for in Spokane. |
