Learn more about the Alaskan Malamute.
Loki gets his name from Norse God of Mischief and we have a feeling this boy will earn his moniker. Voted most likely to steal an entire Costco pack of toilet paper and unroll it down the hallway, Loki is one of the Alaska Four that came into the Mat-Su shelter on January 20th weighing only 35 lbs. He was part of a rescue of 160 dogs who were found on four foot chains with no food or water. You would never know what Loki has been through in his short life though. This dog is full of joy, happy to be alive, and happy to be anywhere but where he came from! The very attitude of a grateful rescued dog, Loki is a real sweetie! Loki never stops talking, he likes to tell you how it is. Just put him on a leash and he starts hopping around like a spring bunny. He is extremely food motivated, and learned how to sit in the first 15 minutes in Seattle. Oh, and if you cant see it by the photos, Loki is absolutely stunning! He has a coat of many colors and it looks like he is wearing wings. Loki loves to play with the other dogs that came from AK with him, and played with several Malamutes before getting on his flight here last week. He is one fun bundle of energy and will make a great partner for hiking, biking, running, sledding or any kind of outdoor activity. Loki is so outgoing that he will most likely do well in most new situations. We will be evaluating him to see how he does with kids. He will need to be house trained, but is extremely food motivated and a quick learner. Loki and the other AK four are not Malamutes, but most likely Malamute, Siberian Husky, Alaskan Husky mixes. We actually came up with a new breed name for Loki and that is Funcrazydog. He will probably top out at around 70 lbs. He has beautiful eyes, an incredible smile, and the most stand at attention fluffy ears we have seen in a long time. He has a longer coat that will need brushing on a regular basis and will be bathed before going to his new home. Loki is being lovingly cared for in Kent, WA. |
