Alaskan Malamute (medium coat)
Dog /Male
Despite his name, BRUTUS, is a big cuddler and loves his humans.  But does live up to his name with other dogs and children.  He needs to be the only "child" in the house. BRUTUS walks well on a leash and enjoys long walks where he can explore.  He is a smart boy and knows many words; Sit, Come, Down, Stay, Shake, Kiss, Go Potty, and You Stink!  When BRUTUS first meets you he will be cautious, but after a few minutes, realizing you are OK, he will be your best friend. BRUTUS needs a new forever home that is spacious where he can roam freely inside.  He is not a fan of crating and kennels but a fenced yard would be great. His future family should have the time to spend with him, taking him on outdoor adventures and a big bed to share at night! DAKOTA is a sweet girl who loves playing with toys and her sister, NICOLE.  When you first meet DAKOTA she may be a little cautious but will warm up quickly because she also loves pets and attention.  She would enjoy a nice yard to feel safe in, but is perfectly happy being indoors or going on car rides with you.  She knows some commands like "sit", "lay" and "shake".   DAKOTA and NICOLE are a bonded pair and need to be adopted together.  They both will excel in a furever home that will spoil them making them feel like princesses. She is currently living at our Malley Valley resort, socializing with other dogs and our volunteers.

FORD is a big, goofy boy who loves playing with other dogs and is gentle with children.  He is knows all the basic commands; "sit", "down", "come", "shake" but he has selective memory with "stay" and "heel".   FORD easily walks on a leash without pulling.  He loves car rides especially if they are to fun adventures like hiking and parks.   FORD is a smart pup, once he learns something he will do it over and over, showing off just how smart he is.  He needs a large, secure yard that he cannot escape from.  He enjoys playing with other dogs, but prefers to hang out with the girls, where he can show them how charming he is.  He also would be great as the only dog in the home. FORD loves attention and needs to be with a family who can interact with him daily and provide him with a loving bond so he feels like he’s included in your “pack”.   Are you the active and loving family that can give Ford the furever home he deserves?

HERCULES is a sweet boy, who likes to play and learn.  His age is estimated between 3 and 5 years old.  He is just discovering the world and deciding what he likes to do.  He likes walks, big fenced yards and undivided attention.  He's cautious about car rides and other dogs, but learning they could be fun.  HERCULES has been learning commands: Sit, Down, Stop, Wait and Let's Go!  He is also learning to enjoy a crate and walk on a leash.  However, he is not treat motivated, just a lot of love and pets is all he needs to motivate him. An ideal family for HERCULES will be home most days and have the time and patience to encourage him to develop into being strong and courageous as his name. JONY is a sweet and energetic guy.  He enjoys playing with toys, especially if it is a stuffed toy that he can rip apart, all that stuffing flying around is fun!   JONY knows basic commands, sit, down, come, often he will give you his opinions of the request with a few Whooos. Show him a treat and he will quickly realize that completing a command is possible.  He should be easy to train further as long as treats are involved.  JONY likes to play with other large dogs and is aware of his size wanting to the be alpha in the group, leaning in to show the others he is the one in charge.  He loves attention from the humans especially if he can have belly rubs and lay on the couch.  A large yard to play chase in or with toys would be a good place to introduce JONY to playing with older children but the children must be considerate and understand he is a big boy. Nice long walks, hikes, runs, car rides to an adventure make JONY happy. He's smart and knows there is a big world to explore.  If he must be left behind, he will settle into a crate, after protesting with a few Whoooos.   JONY's future family should appreciate the malamute's sweet, independent and vocal nature, with the ability to spend time with him, giving him a loving furever home. Important - Please note.   This dog is being listed by WAMAL but is residing with its owner. While WAMAL has evaluate...

KANGA  thrives on adventure and would love an active adopter who will take him on adventures and give him plenty of play time! Kanga is a loyal guy and will be a great companion for someone. He LOVES the snow in the winter and to swim in the summer.  His number one favorite activity (even more than walks and treats) is going for car rides! He likes feeling the wind in his face through an open window (car surfing). Kanga is incredibly observant and curious. Kanga’s comfort with people has grown significantly while in rescue. He does need a little time to build trust, but eventually he will follow you around and give you kisses! He is also quite affectionate and loyal to those he bonds with. Kanga has excellent house manners and is happy to chill on his bed or lay beside you as you work. He has basic training and knows: sit, down, come, get it, stay, and release and is ready for the next level of training. He is very treat motivated and responds well to a clicker. Kanga just needs to know you can be counted on to pay attention to his physical cues when he’s feeling overwhelmed. Kanga would do best in a home setting with a secure yard and would prefer to be your only pet. He might do well with savvy teens as long as they are aware of Kanga’s “dog language” and can give him space when he needs it.  Are you the active, patient, forever home that Kanga is seeking? Kanga is currently enjoying the...

KEANU is a sweet Alaskan Malamute & German Shepherd mix who has much to teach us about overcoming adversity.  He unfortunately, had both his eyes removed recently due to uveitis, a painful condition that required this surgery to make him feel more comfortable. A home with other dogs would be ideal for KEANU.  He gets SO much confidence from other dogs, not only in navigating at home and when out, but also with learning new things, and feeling secure at home.  KEANU needs an active home that will take him out for daily walks, on easy hikes, to the beach, etc. He is NOT shy with walks and hikes--he's out front pulling and is very strong. He is working on his leash manners. He has done really well with easy hikes and LOVES it. He enjoys the outdoors and needs a 6 foot fenced large yard because he is tall and can easily climb over a shorter fence.   While in his yard he will explore, run, sniff the fresh air and listen to the neighborhood sounds. KEANU needs a home that will play with him with his toys. He LOVES to play with his humans, and really enjoys playing fetch indoors and out (once he figures out how much space he has to work with). KEANU is also perfectly happy to sit by you all day long be involved with what you are doing, snuggle, and get belly rubs.  Wherever you are, he is eager to be there beside you.  If he is left alone he will miss you and may howl, so an a...

NACHES is a sweet and friendly boy who is eager to learn new things.  He loves people, attention and treats!  He should be easy to train to become an even better boy.  NACHES likes playing chase and socailizing with other dogs.   A furever home with a fenced yard would allow him to enjoy the outdoors in a safe environment and also run a few zoomies.  NACHES was rescused from a local shelter so he has not had the opportunity to live the life he deserves full of love and adventures.  If you are looking for a sweet buddy, NACHES is ready to be your best friend.

ODEZA, often called DEZY is a lovable girl, who is looking for adventures.  She likes to play with her toys, especially if they squeak!  She knows several basic commands; sit, stay, down, and come (well come when she wants to). DEZY is selective of the dogs she will be friends with, if they make her A list, then she will invite them to run and play.  She will need to be slowly introduced to other dogs so that she can determine if they meet her Diva requirements. A large, secure fenced yard will be important for DEZY.  She is smart and will find a way to escape if she gets bored.  She loves to go on walks, hikes, or any fun trip you would like to include her on. After a long day DEZY is ready to be inside and be lazy with you, chilling with your favorite book or TV show. The ideal family for DEZY will have time to spend with her and keep her busy and give her all the love she deserves. ODEZA is currently enjoying the amenities of our Malley Valley doggie resort.

Little Miss SHELBY is a sweetheart with a big smile and a nonstop tail wag!  Based on her size, we expect she is a malamute and husky mix, bringing the best of both breeds.  She knows basic commands, "sit", "down" and "wait" but could use further training.  She is food motivated which will help when teaching her new commands and tricks.  SHELBY is good on the leash and will enjoy joining you on all of your outdoor adventures.  She is a  loving, playful, active girl who generally does well with other dogs once they have established who is boss in the house (hint: it's her!). SHELBY has food allergies that will require a special diet and lifetime of medication.  Therefore, she needs a family that can afford her medications, special food and has the time to administrator them. SHELBY would love for you to open up your home to her and she promises to not steal the couch...well, at least not the whole couch! SHELBY is currently being fostered by a loving family in Eastern Washington.

SUMMIT has a typical malamute personality.  Independent, smart, playful, and affectionate, but only when he wants to be. He is crate trained, however, if he's left in the crate, for what he considers is too long, he will find a way out.  A large fenced yard for him to run zoomies and burn energy would be ideal.  He also enjoys long daily walk where he can explore, but could use some practice on his leash training commands.  After the walk, he loves to cuddle and relax with his humans. SUMMIT gets very excited at seeing other dogs as he wants to play, but not all dogs appreciate his enthusiasm.  It may be best that he is in an only dog family.  Summit's furever family should have the time to spend with him and take him on many adventures.  Important - Please note.   This dog is being listed by WAMAL but is residing with its owner. YUKI  is a lover and conversationalist who is great with kids and toddlers and enjoys meeting new people. At backyard BBQs she is an attentive hostess, looking to share your meal. YUKI does well with all dogs, big or small, she is ready to play.  But would be happy in a one dog home as she wants all of the pets for herself.  She knows basic commands and walks well on a leash. She is content with several short strolls a day, but also loves a good hike or jog. Car ride? Camping?  As long as she is with you on an adventure she is thrilled.  YUKI does not need a large yard and does well in a big 48x30x30 crate.  However, if you have a yard, that would be great too. But she would need a good wipe down if she laid in the grass because she does have some allergies. If you are looking for a loving companion who just wants to be with her humans and can accommodate her allergies,  Yuki is the girl for you!

Due to his imposing size some dogs have not been nice to him, therefore causing him to be mistrustful of other dogs when they first meet. But once he does warm up to the new dog he loves to play and rough house with them. If he is able to burn that energy he is such a good cuddly house dog, but like others of his breed if he doesn't get it all out he can be destructive.  ELDING is crate trained and has a bed that he has made his won.
